Subscriptions FAQ
What is the La Barba Coffee Subscription?
La Barba’s coffee subscription is our way of making sure you have a steady supply of good coffee at a tremendous value. We hate running out of coffee, especially when we realize it early in the morning, and we know that most of you don’t. So, our subscription can be tailored in frequency to how much you drink (one 12oz bag, two 12oz bags, 5lbs) and how frequently you’re ready for more (every 7 days to every 30 days). You can adjust the ship date if you’ve been drinking extra coffee since your last delivery or if you’ve been drinking less or find yourself traveling. Also, to date we’ve never raised prices on existing subscriptions, even when we’ve raised the price of the subscription itself; we want to honor the loyalty of our subscribers, so keeping a subscription going is a great way to lock in a substantial discount for your coffee.
How does the Roaster’s Choice subscription work?
The Roaster’s Choice subscription is our way of sharing coffee’s variety and seasonality with you. It’s always a single origin coffee that we’ve worked hard to source. Most subscribers will never receive a coffee more than once, though weekly subscribers or those with multiple subscriptions may receive repeats at times (you can always let us know what you enjoy if this is you).
With the Roaster’s Choice subscription, we’re also exited to give you an experience of coffee’s seasonality. Most coffee producing origins only have one exportable harvest time per year for Specialty grade coffee, meaning that there is a specific time of year when a specific origin’s coffee is especially fresh. We do our best to plan our green sourcing around this harvest calendar so that we can send you Rwandan coffees when it’s just the right time of year for Rwandan coffee, Ecuadors when it’s just the right time of year for Ecuador, etc.
Can I choose the type of coffee I receive?
All of our blends are available for subscription, but our Roaster’s Choice Single Origin Subscription is just that, our Roaster choosing. Don’t worry though, while you may not be choosing, we’re excited to show off and send really incredible coffees.
How often will I get my coffee deliveries? (7, 14, 21, or 30 days)
Subscriptions can be scheduled for a variety of intervals to meet your needs. You can also change your interval if you find yourself running out of coffee too soon or not drinking as much and needing to space it out.
Can I pause, skip, or cancel my subscription anytime?
You can login to our site to pause, skip, or cancel your subscription anytime. If you have trouble with any of this, just email us at hello@labarbacoffee.com and we’ll make sure you’re taken care of.
Do I save money by subscribing instead of buying one-time?
Subscriptions to our blends save 10% and subscriptions to our Roaster’s Choice Single Origin save far more with subscribers receiving anywhere from 15% to over 35% on the coffees they receive when compared to a one time purchase.
What size bags are available for subscription?
Your subscription can be for one 12 oz bag, two 12 oz bags, or a 5lb bag.
Is the coffee whole bean or ground?
All of our coffee is whole bean. If you need a recommendation for a grinder, emails us and we’ll help you find one!
When is my card charged for subscription orders?
Your credit card will be charged in accordance with your subscription interval and upon charging will enter are roasting queue. Orders are typically roasted the business day after the charge and ship out 1-2 days after.
Do you offer gift subscriptions?
Yes! We do offer gifts subscriptions in 6 and 12 month intervals on our blends and Roaster’s Choice subscriptions.
Can I update my shipping address or payment method after subscribing?
You can login to our site to update your address or payment method anytime. If you have trouble with any of this, just email us at hello@labarbacoffee.com and we’ll make sure you’re taken care of.
Where do you ship subscriptions?
We ship subscriptions to the United States only. Because of how large our discount is, we can’t ship subscriptions out of the USA due to shipping costs.
How fresh is the coffee when it ships?
Your coffee is very fresh when it ships, often too fresh! We ship orders within a day or two of roasting, with some single origins having rested one to two weeks. We encourage you to let coffee rest at least several days after its roast. While you want your coffee fresh, coffees need time to de-gas after roast. Lighter coffees tend to need more time and will only open up and improve flavor as they do de-gas. In some cases coffees will continue to open up flavors for a month after roast.
