The Nano Genji is a high quality, delicious Ethiopian coffee. It's the best example of what we love about specialty coffee.
Ethiopian coffees often offer flavor profiles that are complex and full of notes one might not expect to find in coffee. Nano Genji #6 fits the bill with berry sweetness, a subtle lime brightness, and lingering tea like mouthfeel and character.
These flavors cohere well together and make me excited to see what my pallet discovers every time I brew it.
- Thomas Warmath, Director of Operations
The Nano Genji mill represents so much of what we want to see happen in the coffee world. By striving for quality and investing to continually improve it, the members of the union have produced coffees that fetch higher prices for farmers.
We were able to get bags of coffee from lot #6 only by committing to our importer that we would buy from the mill before we had even tasted any of their coffees. Had we waited, lot #6 would have been sold out.
When farmers and co-ops are able to sell their coffee for export before harvesting and processing is fully completed, they end up in a position of much greater financial stability and security. In the case of Nano Genji, it is quality that has put them in this position. We feel that everyone wins in this scenario.
