Ethiopian coffees notoriously change the perceptions of coffee drinkers about what coffee can taste like. This is no doubt due to the amazing genetic variety the 'birthplace of coffee' boasts; the vast majority of coffee varieties here have yet to be even categorized. Layo Teraga is a cooperative located in northern Guji (Uraga). This cooperative has around 500 members. Coffees from this area of Uraga, around
the Hawata washing station are some of the highest grown in Ethiopia (peaks up to 2300masl).The coffee is mainly grown in semi-forest environments, using naturalvegetation as shade cover. Layo Teraga is part of the Oromia Coffee Farmer’s Cooperative Union, one of the largest Unions in Ethiopia.
